Insider’s Milan Food Tour:
Iconic flavors & cultural juxtapositions “da bere”

Milan is one of Italy’s most exciting cities for food. Historical occupations coupled with decades of migration from around Italy, Europe and around the world have forged one of the most elegant food scene’s that is a true must on any food lover’s itinerary around Italy.

In the 1980s, Italy’s second largest city, Milan, was given the moniker “Milano da bere”, loosely meaning a city “to take in” with regards to its avant guard culture, gorgeous fashionistas, vibrancy and decadent cuisine.

Fast forward 40 years and Milan still remains Italy’s cosmopolitan capital. A city where culture, fashion, food, design and history intersect.

In this 3-hour Milan food tour, we’ll savor at a mix of hidden and iconic gems defining this big city’s luxurious culinary landscape from Northern Italian coffee culture, proudly made sweets, comforting primi (first courses) laden with butter, melted cheese made in the mountains and far flung ingredients (i.e. saffron - a precious spice that has been traded and treasured in Milan since the Renaissance), finishing with some of the best artisanal gelato in Italy and confectionaries made by generational artisans with prized ingredients (i.e. citron, chestnuts, single origin chocolate and more).

Be prepared to sip your way through wines from across Lombardy (the region Milan calls home) and taste maker-to-table charcuterie in local-loved bottegas, exclusive underground wine cellars and soulful family-run shops far tucked away from the tourist hustle and bustle.

Led by your knowledgable and professional local guide, you’ll learn the history of Milan’s unique cuisine as we revel in its architectural gems spanning centuries of history, and discover how the city has transitioned from an ancient Roman outpost to an economic powerhouse that sets the trends for style and culture across Europe.
